Ambassador of Purple Application
I can’t tell you why I would make a great Ambassador of Purple, but I can tell you why I have to be.
I started attending York Technical College in the fall of 2011 as a Teleproduction Technology student; it was then that I realized that I had to fight just to get to the place where I belong. I could feel my disability turning me into a victim. My friends and family do so much for me and I feel like I have to return the favor. My class recently shot a P.S.A. for United Way and I thought that giving back will put my mind at peace. I revisited this site and thought about my next project, “Man on the Street Interviews.” I thought what a perfect way to raise awareness than to interview people for my project about Purple Day and epilepsy. Surprisingly, people knew little to nothing about epilepsy!
My school advisor/Teleproduction Director is involved in United Way, and one of my closest friends is president of Relay for Life at Winthrop University with my baby sister being vice president; so getting started raising epilepsy awareness won’t be hard.
I’m going to end this with a quote I try to live by from the poem Solitude,
“Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.
For the sad old Earth must borrow its mirth, but has trouble enough of its own.”
