To everyone who fretted over SOPA…
That thing would not have passed at all. It’s a good idea in theory, as far as protecting copy written material goes, but the internet is too integrated into society to censor. FAR too many people would be affected my this legislation for it to passed in this country.
I did an audio news story on this subject and one interviewee brought up a good point; “The passing of the Patriot Act would never have been accomplished without that fear of terrorism… the invasion into our privacy… so a legislation like this to pass would require a sort of coming together of a perfect storm.”
